10K Trail Run – for runners looking to push themselves a little further.

Food Drive at Crozet UMC - September is Hunger Action Month, and Crozet United Methodist Church is collecting donations to support the Grace Grocery food pantry. The need for food assistance in our community continues to grow, and this drive is an important way to help neighbors facing hunger.
Donations can be dropped off at Crozet UMC throughout September. Every contribution—big or small—makes a difference.

Albemarle County Releases Draft of 20-Year Comprehensive Plan (AC44)
Albemarle County has released the draft of its updated Comprehensive Plan, or “Comp Plan,” which guides growth, development, and investment across the county for the next 20 years. The Plan outlines recommendations for supporting local businesses, protecting natural resources, expanding transportation options, and encouraging a variety of housing types. It also informs decisions on public infrastructure, funding, and certain development applications.
Your feedback is invited → AC44 Survey
For Crozet, this matters: the draft includes guidance on the Growth Management Policy, which influences how the county will add to designated Development Areas, shaping where new housing, businesses, and infrastructure may appear in our community over the coming decades.
As shown below, the draft now contains language related to “Land Swaps”, a concept that would expand the boundaries of Crozet and other development areas by adding the acreage from “under-performing areas” onto the total acreage of the County’s growth areas. There are many critical and unanswered questions such as:
Are places like Lickinghole Creek and Basin under-performing areas (UPA)?
Is Old Trail a UPA because it didn’t develop at the absolute maximum density?
Can an UPA from a distant neighborhood (e.g. Glenmore) be added to Crozet
Keep a very close eye on this one.

Trivia
During the Apollo 14 mission in 1971, which astronaut became the first (and only) person to hit a golf ball on the Moon, later joking it traveled “miles and miles and miles” (though analysis shows it actually went about 40 yards)? |
