Celebrating 10 Years in Business: Crozet Artisan Depot Marks a Decade of Supporting Local Art - This June marks a major milestone for Crozet Artisan Depot as it celebrates 10 years in business—a decade dedicated to championing Virginia artists and showcasing exceptional handcrafted work. Since opening in 2015 in the historic Crozet train depot, the gallery and gift shop has become a cornerstone of the region’s creative economy, representing more than 90 Virginia-based artists and makers. It has earned a reputation as a destination for finely crafted goods, from jewelry and ceramics to woodwork, glass, fiber art, and regional specialty foods.
To commemorate the occasion, Crozet Artisan Depot will host a 10th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, June 28, from 12–3 PM. The event will feature live music by Anne O’Brien and catering by local chef Laura Fonner. Leading up to the celebration, a silent auction will run from June 21–28, featuring a wide array of artist-donated work. Proceeds from the auction will benefit two initiatives:
Arts in Western Education (AWE), which supports arts programs—including art teachers—across the six public schools in Western Albemarle County
Youth scholarships for classes and programs at Crozet Arts
The celebration reflects the Depot’s ongoing mission to elevate handmade artistry and foster meaningful connections between artists and the community. Crozet Artisan Depot invites everyone to join in marking this milestone and honoring the artists, supporters, and friends who have made the past ten years possible.
With deep gratitude, the Depot extends heartfelt thanks to its artists, the Crozet community, and supporters near and far for a decade of shared appreciation for local, handcrafted art.

You can find one of a kind gifts at the Artisan Depot while supporting local artists

On The Lighter Side

Gristmills played an important role to the development of farms in Albemarle County
Trivia Quiz - Wheat and other cereal grains became an important crop to Albemarle County farmers in the late 1700s. As a result, water-powered gristmills were built across the region to help grind their seeds into flour between two large stones until they were fine enough for bread and other baked goods.
Early mills were established in Ivy, Batesville, Hillsboro, and of course at Yancey’s Mill, Fray’s Mill, Advance Mills and many other nearby places. While those mills may have be gone, many idioms related to them remain in our everyday language.
How many of these mill-related sayings you can identify from their definitions?
to suddenly stop or cease progress, often in a dramatic or unexpected way
to work very hard and continuously on a task or project
the monotonous tasks of work
average, not special or exciting in any way
to demonstrate your abilities and resilience in a challenging situation
