County Seeks Input on Three Notched Trail - The deadline for completing Albemarle County’s survey about the Three Notched Trail is August 31. The proposed 24-mile trail would begin in Charlottesville. run through Crozet, and end at the entrance of the Blue Ridge Tunnel in Nelson County, giving people a safe way to bike and walk between communities without dealing with traffic.

To add your feedback, take the survey here. There's also an online map feature where you can drop comments on specific geographic areas along the proposed route

Volunteers Wanted For Rockfish Gap Hawk Watch - Volunteers with the Rockfish Gap Hawk Watch count thousands of migrating raptors from their prime perch at the Inn at Afton, just off Interstate 64 near Waynesboro. Starting Friday August 15th, this citizen science group will track 15 raptor species as they funnel through our mountain gap, contributing valuable data to continental conservation efforts as part of the Hawk Migration Association's monitoring network.

The real spectacle happens during peak migration in late September, when up to 10,000 hawks can pass through in a single day. With its accessible location and commanding 180-degree views, the site draws weekend visitors during peak season with many hawks swooping close enough for spectacular photos.

Local Foundation Celebrates 20 Years of Conservation Work - The Rockfish Valley Foundation Natural History Center is marking a major milestone, 20 years of preserving our area's natural and historical resources.

Over the past two decades, the Foundation has supported the Rockfish Valley Loop Trail system, Spruce Creek Park, and the surrounding lands while promoting conservation, recreation, and environmental education throughout Nelson County.

To celebrate this anniversary, they're hosting a community gathering featuring the unveiling of a new water fountain that provides clean drinking water for trail users and park visitors. The event will include live music by Ken Janson from 2:00 to 3:00 PM at 1368 Rockfish Valley Highway, Nellysford.

Peachtree All-Stars - The Peachtree 9U All Stars came home as the 2025 World Series Ironman Bracket Champions! The team finished with a tournament record at 8-1 and placed 3rd overall — an incredible run by a special group of kids!
