Around Town

Crozet Trails Crew 5K, 10K & Family Fun Run — Saturday, October 25

This is the major fundraiser for the Crozet Trails Crew, a community organization working to connect Crozet and Western Albemarle with trails and greenways. The Crozet Trails Crew might be one of the best things about living here — we all get to enjoy the dividends of their hard work every day.

This event is a chance to give back. Whether you’re running, cheering, or volunteering to help with parking, timing, or trail assistance — all in support of a cause that keeps Crozet connected.

→ Early Registration ends Thursday, October 23, at 1:00 PM EDT.
Sign up early — each race includes a T-shirt for participants. In person registration takes place at Claudius Crozet Park on Saturday, October 25th starting at 9:00 AM.

Race options:

5K Trail Run: Starts and ends at Crozet Park, following a rustic trail to the east of the park (expect roots, rocks, and ruts). Prizes awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers — first place earns the honor of having a bridge named after them!
10K Trail Race: A limited-entry course looping by Lickinghole Basin and crossing Lickinghole Creek (you might get your feet wet). The Trails Crew is currently raising funds for a new 50-foot bridge here — donations are welcome to help make it happen.
Family Fun Run: A shorter course that starts in Crozet Park, passes by the dog park, and follows a recent trail extension (~0.75 miles) before looping back. This section will eventually connect to downtown Crozet. Kids under 7 can participate free with a registered adult.

Post-Race Trails Fest:
Stick around at the park’s festival grounds for made-from-scratch pancakes, Starr Hill beer, and live music from Susie and the Pistols on the new stage. It’s a fun morning that celebrates community, local trails, and everything that makes Crozet special.

Enjoy complimentary refreshments and lively conversation with neighbors! The Community Center will be open for tours and is available to rent for a nominal fee. Proceeds from the event help fund scholarships for local college bound students.
