Around Town
Sign Our Petition To Protect Crozet Wildlife - Crozet United is asking Albemarle County to build a wildlife-friendly bridge as part of the Eastern Avenue Connector project. Once complete, thousands of cars are expected to use the bridge each day. posing a severe threat to the fragile wildlife habitat along Lickinghole Creek.
The County has said that it will incorporate the public’s comments into its final request for proposals (RFP) to build the bridge. The final RFP will be issued this Monday, so you must act now if you want to be heard.
To support our petition and learn much more, please click here or the image below. Supervisor Ann Mallek is also publicly supporting this effort (click here to read her comments).
Henley’s Orchard Opens SaddleCrest to the Public - The Henley family is hosting a “Field Jam” this Saturday at SaddleCrest, their new Event Field at 5185 Jones Mill Road. Guests will enjoy what are arguably the best mountain views in the area, a selection of beer and hard cider, pony rides, and food vendors.

SaddleCrest, the Henley’s new Event Field, is the best kept secret in town.
Live music begins at 1:00 pm with “The Cry Babies”, followed by “Fig and the Newtons” (3:30pm) and “The Mellow Dramatics” (6:00pm). General admission tickets are $10 and children 8 and under are free. Click here to purchase tickets.
“We want people to know that we’re more than just an orchard,” said Sarah Henley (co-owner). “We’ve worked hard to turn our new event field into a place where couples and families can spend a day on the farm. There’s area for kids to run around and play while parents take a break from it all with live music.”
"Come out to Crozet’s backyard and enjoy a beautiful day,” invites Brook Henley, the Orchard’s CFO and Operations Manager. Read on for important tips for first time guests.

Brook Henley (Henley Orchard)
Tips for first time guests: The Henley’s Orchard Event Field (“SaddleCrest”) is about 2.8 miles from Downtown Crozet. Head North from the 4-way-stop-sign intersection, and proceed for 2 miles on Crozet Ave, which turns into White Hall Rd. You’ll then make a right turn onto Jones Mill Rd, which is just across the street from the "Henley’s Orchard” retail location. You will drive on Jones Mill Rd for another 0.8 mi to the Field Jam entrance on the right. Please drive slowly down this gravel road, which is narrow in places. There will be food trucks available, but picnic lunches are allowed. Beer and hard ciders will be sold onsite. NO other alcohol is permitted to be brought in to the Event Field. Well-behaved pets on leashes are allowed. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, and tent canopies ($5 charge) to set up for a fun day of music, food, and drinks in an ideal countryside setting.
