Around Town
New community posting feature at FrontPorchx.com - Now you can spread the word about a community meeting, yard sale, local charity, social club, volunteer opportunities or ask for local business recommendations. Just click the blue “+” button in the bottom left of the page to get started.
And unlike the other guys, we’ve put some controls in place (e.g. no public replies) to keep it a positive place for you to exchange information with legitimate neighbors. Give it a try and tell us what you think by emailing [email protected].
Black Friday Special - If you have a small business or know someone that does, we have a deal for you. Get your business noticed by thousands of locals during this busy shopping season with a FrontPorch premium membership. As our gift to the local community, we are giving away 10 premium memberships during December for just $1.00. Cancel anytime. Click on our advertisement to learn more.

Christmas Tree Quest - If you’re like us, you’ve started thinking about getting that Christmas tree up now that Thanksgiving is here. Whether you want to make it an all-day family outing or just need a good, quick stop, we’ve rounded up some solid options close to home.
Support Local Causes:
Boy Scout Troop 79 is selling fresh trees at the Great Valu parking lot in Crozet. Starting this Friday at noon. All proceeds support the Troop's adventures. Find out more at crozettroop79.org.
Need a tree without the farm trip?
Ivy Creek Garden Center in Ivy along 250 has fresh pre-cut trees, wreaths, and seasonal greenery.
Ivy Nursery, just down the road from Garden Center, is a holiday staple for Fraser firs, handcrafted wreaths, and arrangements.
Rockfish Valley Community Center in Afton offers fresh-cut Fraser Firs, with proceeds benefiting community programs.
Make It an Adventure: Choose-and-Cut Farms
Gladden Fields Christmas Trees in North Garden offers a scenic spot to cut your own Norway Spruce. For current hours call (434) 218-5305.
Greene Meadows Farm in Greene County features seven acres of choose-and-cut trees, plus pre-cut options, hot chocolate, a Christmas shop, and farm animals.
Safe Spaces - You may be buying or selling more things online with people you don't know for the holiday season. ACPD has created a designated, well-lit "Safe Exchange Zone" at its 5th Street headquarters, providing a secure place for exchanges that is monitored by 24/7 video recording. Read more at NBC29.
