VDOE releases School Report Cards - The Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) just released its first school report cards based on its new accountability system, the School Performance and Support Framework.

Nearly all local schools earned the highest designation (“Distinguished”) for the 2024-2025 school year while Crozet Elementary received the second lowest designation (“Off Track”) in part due to Reading and Math results for “Economically Disadvantaged Students” and “Students with Disabilities” that were significantly worse than its peers.

Holiday centerpieces by Horse and Hen - After an extraordinarily busy “wedding season”, Brittany Barnett, the owner of Horse and Hen Floral Design (located behind Yellow Mug) has turned her attention to creating unique holiday table centerpieces.

Check out her website for perfect arrangements starting at just $100, or contact her directly for custom requests and price points to fit any budget. “I’ve got South American peonies as well as local winter tulips that look really nice right now,” says Barnett who will be taking orders up until December 22nd with deliveries going out through the 23rd.

WAHS basketball home opener this Friday - Western Albemarle High School (WAHS) will be the place to be Friday evening as its boys and girls varsity basketball teams take on rival Albemarle High School. Tickets to the double header are just $8, with free admission for seniors and ACPS staff (with ID card). The girls’ game begins at 6:00 PM with the boys’ following immediately after at 7:30 PM. Make sure to arrive early and get good seats!

Three Notch’d Trail - A first look at potential routes for a future shared-use path connecting the Blue Ridge Tunnel to Charlottesville through Crozet is now available. Three proposed route options are outlined in a new virtual plan, and a public survey is open for feedback through January 31.
