Downtown Crozet Initiative to Create Plan for New Wayfinding Signage - As Crozet grows and new businesses open, more people—both local and non-local—will be coming to our area to live, work, shop, eat, and play. And because of this influx of people, the Crozet Master Plan recognizes the importance of having new signage to help folks find their way around; one of the Master Plan’s key infrastructure goals is to “provide wayfinding signage Downtown and in other destinations to help visitors and residents navigate area amenities, parking locations, parks, and trails.” 

To help meet this goal, the Downtown Crozet Initiative (DCI), a local nonprofit, recently received a state-funded grant to develop a plan for new, distinctive signage in and around Crozet. DCI is working with Albemarle County and an urban-planning firm specializing in wayfinding plans and community branding to craft the plan.

But DCI also needs your help. DCI needs input from the community to ensure that the plan leads to signage that is both helpful and has an authentic “Crozet” look and feel. So, in the weeks ahead, DCI will have several in-person and online opportunities for you to give input on the locations and potential designs of these signs. The first will be a community meeting on Tuesday, February 24, 6-7:30 pm at Crozet United Methodist Church. DCI will also have online modes of feedback through the group’s website.

New Kids Activity Open - The Blue Ridge Children’s Museum is now open at 190 Race Avenue in Waynesboro, providing a new resource for families. The museum features a unique outdoor natural playground alongside indoor "Little Explorers" playtime and a monthly nature-based interactive music and storytime. Most activities are $8 per child, it offers an affordable way for little ones to learn and play. Visit blueridgechildrensmuseum.org
