2 Year Anniversary - We’re officially two years old! A huge thank you to our weekly readers and everyone who shares this with friends and family. It is truly humbling that so many Crozet households open this newsletter every Wednesday; thank you for including us in your lives. We’ve been working hard on some big updates for the coming year as we continue our mission to be the best possible resource for the Crozet community.

Nelson County Kangaroo Problem - Nelson County deputies were called to Route 29 this weekend to handle a high-profile case of "obstructing traffic”. It turns out the suspect was a literal kangaroo, who is now back home and expected to make a full recovery. Read the story → CBS19

Proposed Ordinance Threatens Crozet Streams - At its February 10th meeting, Albemarle County’s Planning Commission will review the latest draft of the Riparian Buffer Ordinance which includes a loophole targeted at reducing buffers around Crozet-area streams.

If adopted in its current form, a County administrator will be able to single-handedly reduce the protective buffer on intermittent streams in Crozet by 50% and without any valid supporting rationale or community engagement (see page 34-35).

If you’d like to the County to continue protecting Crozet’s streams and creeks, email your Supervisor, Ann Mallek at [email protected] and your Planning Commissioner, Lonnie Murray at [email protected].

The proposed Riparian Buffer Ordinance gives developers a way to build closer to Crozet streams.
