Crozet Firehouse 5K & Pancake Breakfast - The Crozet Volunteer Fire Department is hosting its second annual Firehouse 5K, Kids Fun Run, and Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, April 25 at Fire Station 5 (5652 Three Notch'd Rd).

Kids Fun Run kicks off at 8 a.m., the 5K at 8:30 a.m., and pancakes are served 9–11 a.m. Race-day registration opens at 6:30 a.m., but you can sign up ahead of time → here. The 5K is $45, kids run free, and first responders get 50% off. Breakfast is included for runners; everyone else is welcome for a suggested $10 donation.

Parking at the station is limited, so plan to park behind Crozet Commons, at Crozet Market, or across from Star Hill Brewery.

Bonus for the kiddos: Come help wash the fire trucks on Thursday and Friday, April 23–24, from 6:30–8 p.m. at the station. Meet the firefighters, climb around the trucks, and tour the station. Runners can also pre-register and grab their race packets while they're there.

Proceeds support firefighter training, fire prevention programs, and community events like the Fourth of July and Christmas parades.

Beaver Hill Mobile Home Park Expansion - Beaver Hill mobile home park wants to nearly double in size at its location off Three Notch'd Road, adding 49 new homes to the 43 already there.

The catch: the land is outside Crozet's designated growth area and is in the water supply watershed protection area for the Beaver Creek Reservoir (our drinking water). In addition, there is currently inadequate riparian protection on streams throughout most of the property, and it backs up to land the County already paid to protect through a conservation easement.

County staff is recommending denial saying it runs against the Comprehensive Plan, falls short on affordable housing commitments, and puts the reservoir watershed at risk. It heads to the Planning Commission for a vote on April 28.
