Navigate, Bike, Conquer: The Crozet Adventure Race Returns! – The Crozet Adventure Race returns for its second year on November 8th at Mint Springs Valley Park. This time longer, tougher, and adding mountain biking to the mix. Racers can choose a FREE 4- or 8-hour course that combines orienteering and mountain biking, navigating rugged terrain with just a map, compass, and plenty of grit. Expect steep climbs, singletrack, fireroads, off-trail challenges, and hidden checkpoints scattered across the Blue Ridge backcountry.

Writing As A Way of Healing - Are you, or do you know someone, who is going through or has gone through cancer treatment at UVA? Writing Through Cancer is a free, six-week writing workshop for UVA cancer patients and survivors who have received any or part of their treatment at UVA Hospital. This writing workshop is designed to help active and former cancer patients connect with each other, build community, write, and share their stories with each other.

The next series is specifically designed for breast cancer patients in honor of October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The workshop runs on Zoom every Thursday from 2:30 to 4 p.m., starting October 9 and ending November 13.

Writing Through Cancer is led by Dr. Cameron Steele, a former university English professor, writer, mother, and three-time breast cancer survivor. All participants receive free journals and pens, and UVA Hospital hosts public readings at the end of each workshop series so that participants can meet each other in person and share their written work with each other, their families, physicians, and the larger community.

Crozet UMC Food Drive Update - Thanks to the generosity of our community, Crozet United Methodist Church has collected 773 pounds(!) of food so far for the Grace Grocery pantry! Your contributions are helping neighbors in need right here in our community.

For the rest of the month, you can easily drop off donations at Crozet Market on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Crozet UMC volunteers will be there collecting items for Grace Grocery. Every donation, big or small, makes a real difference.
