Crozet Community Association Meets Thursday - The CCA will meet this Thursday, July 10 at 7:30 pm in the “old radio building” behind the Crozet Park basketball courts. The community will be given an update and an opportunity to discuss and vote on the resolutions that were introduced in May.

The resolutions (which can be reviewed here) ask the County to definitively address important issues facing our Community: protecting our streams, completing the Eastern Avenue Connector, and following state law that limits the size of development area boundaries.

Jeff Richardson, the County Executive, has been invited to attend this meeting to give an update and participate in an thoughtful discussion with the Crozet community.

A New Name for a Vital Local Lifeline - If you’ve never heard of it, Blue Ridge Respite is one of the most meaningful (and quietly powerful) programs in Nelson County - a daytime enrichment and support group for individuals experiencing memory loss or Parkinson’s.

Members spend their time enjoying tai chi, art, music, brain games, movement, and conversation—while caregivers get a much-needed break. It’s connection, laughter, and support rolled into one.

Formerly known as the Nelson Enrichment Club, the group just rebranded to the Blue Ridge Respite Enrichment Program (or Blue Ridge Respite for short), a change that better reflects the heart of its mission: enriching lives and offering restorative care for families.

Starting July 11, the program will expand to three days a week: Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 10 AM to 2 PM in Nellysford. Enrollment is open, and financial assistance is available.

New Courthouse Opens... to Rats? - Albemarle County’s shiny new $37 million courthouse has some unexpected tenants—rats and mice have reportedly made themselves at home just days after the big move-in.

Pest control is on the job with traps, bait stations, and daily inspections, while staff have been asked to keep food sealed up. The worst of the issue seems to be in the general district court area.

No timeline yet on when the rodents will be evicted—but for now, it’s a case of Vermin v. Albemarle County.
