Around Town
Board of Supervisors Meets Today - The Albemarle County Board of Supervisors meets today (August 6th) at 1 PM in Lane Auditorium to discuss affordable housing investment fund recommendations, a data center work session, and a presentation on the Biophilic Cities Network (which focuses on integrating nature into urban planning for healthier communities). Later in the meeting, Supervisor Mallek will formally introduce and voice her support for the resolutions passed by the Crozet Community Association in July. ACPS School Starts - The 2025-26 school year kicks off Wednesday, August 13th—time to dust off your patience and perfect your school zone crawl as morning commutes return to their gloriously chaotic, bumper-to-bumper glory.

Speed Cameras - Speaking of school, Albemarle County added speed cameras to the school entrances on Rockfish Gap Turnpike in Crozet at Western Albemarle High, Henley Middle, and Brownsville Elementary, plus they're putting stop arm cameras on some school buses to catch people who illegally pass them. There's a warning period from August 13 through September 12 where you'll just get a warning if you're going 10+ mph over the speed limit, but after that it's a $100 fine (though no points on your license).
