Connecting you to what’s happening around town

Around Town

Thank You Readers! – We are thrilled to share that Albemarle County notified us that they will add a wildlife corridor to the proposed bridge over Lickinghole Creek in response to the petition many of you signed last week. We are grateful to live in a community that supports one another. Thank you to each and every one of you that took the time to read, sign, and share this petition with others. It made all the difference.

"We are going to take additional steps to ensure that there is a wildlife corridor requirement in the RFP.  We are going to add an elevation on the plans to show openings in spans for wildlife.  We are also going to add a statement from federal guidance that the bridge shall also serve as a wildlife passage (there are definitions)."

Excerpt from email from Albemarle County leadership

Adding this wildlife corridor was one of six critically important requests that our community made to Albemarle County Executive Jeff Richardson earlier this month. You can download and read the rest of them here. The Crozet Gazette will also recap these requests in their next issue.  We’ll keep you posted with additional updates as they occur.

Thanks to Crozet United readers, Albemarle County agreed to add a wildlife corridor to the plans for the Eastern Avenue Connector bridge over Lickinghole Creek.
